Sapele Neon Boy presents a dynamic exploration of dual heritage through the luminous paintings of British-Nigerian-Dutch artist Joshua Uvieghara. The exhibition examines the intersection of cultural identities through the artist’s distinctive use of color and light, drawing from both the vibrant landscape of Sapele, Nigeria, and the neon-lit cityscapes of Europe.
Through his layered compositions, Uvieghara navigates the space between memory and present reality, transforming personal narratives into visual poetry that speaks to the broader experience of cultural transition and belonging.
This exhibition is in collaboration with Koop Projects, Brighton.
